Pop on a Peplum

Not only is it enjoyable to say, the 'Peplum' is the most flattering trend of S/S 12. This fashion isn't showing any signs of slowing down: filtering down the designer good chain from Dior to Dorothy Perkins in weeks, the peplum is in every store window. Embracing the resurgence of fifties nostalgia, the trend is heavily influenced by the exaggerated A Line made popular by Dior's New Look in 1947.

Personally, I am a teeny bit obsessed by this trend as it really complements my oh-too-skinny figure and creates curves, it is definitely my go to look for a night on the town. Not only is it super flattering, but its an easy way of injecting a little couture glamour into your everyday wardrobe.

Heres my pick of designer looks from the Spring/Summer '12 collections that have made the peplum style so popular.

-Going back to the roots of the Christian Dior label

-Super girly at McQueen

-Colour popping cuteness at Jason Wu

-Cushnie et Ochs show how a peplum can make a plain structural outfit pop

-Oriental cut out deets at Rodart- the Mulvey sisters always know how to subvert a trend

-My personal favourite is by Nina Ricci, love the kitsch prints and detailing. A beaut of a peplum!

- Tomorrow I will be cracking out a peplum dress to head down town, doubt I'll be able to stretch to these gorgeous designer garms tho!
